In case you hadn't guessed already, this is Pharmakon, a site created to house all of my crap and to have links to other places on the web with better crap. Here you will find links to my other sites, my fanfiction, and my fanfic recs. Navigation is above, and pretty much self-explanatory. You can't really get any simpler. Updates are below.

Due to a few problems I had previously with the webserver, not everything is up yet. The most important bits of the site are up - the sites page, my fics, and my recs - but you're going to have to wait a bit longer for the random crap on the other page and the links to go up. Because they're a pain in the arse, which is why I'm avoiding doing them.

Don't hesitate to contact me about anything - broken links, spelling mistakes, even (::gasp::) compliments. ^_^ Enjoy the site!

Some of you may be wondering why I chose the name "Pharmakon" for this site, and why exactly this means the subdomain name is "poison". The reason is fairly simple: "pharmakon" is a derivative of the Greek world "pharmakos". Pharmakos is the origin of the word pharmaceutical, yet curiously enough "pharmakon" means both a poison and its cure at the same time. Pharmakos was also commonly used to mean a scapegoat, while pharmakeus means "magician" or "poisoner". Socrates, for example, is accused of being a pharmakeus; of enchanting the young men of Athens with the magic in his words and thereby poisoning their minds against the state.

That explains why the subdomain name is "poison", yet does not explain precisely why I chose pharmakon as the site's title. The reason is slightly complicated, and rests with the fact that "pharmakon" is a contranym. This site is about fiction; mostly fanfiction, but some original as well. Writing, to me, is both a poison and a cure - words can be used to hurt someone, or to persuade someone to a conclusion we would generally look upon as wrong, yet at the same time words are the only cure to this. That's an incredibly pretentious explanation for a site name, I know, but pretentiousness is often a lot of fun. ^_^

The current layout features a piece of artwork entitled "Mother Earth", drawn and painted by Luis Royo. This site is best viewed at a resolution of 640x480+, with PHP support CSS, JavaScript, and millions of colours enabled.
