Worth It
Ever since joining team 7, aggravation had become a normal emotion for Sasuke.

First, there was Sakura and her little crush. Not only did this mean that she was all over him whenever she thought she could get away with it, it meant that as soon as they were near any of the rest of the stupid girls Sasuke had to put up with them playing tug-of-war over him.

Second, there was Kakashi. Sasuke wanted to know how he’d ended up with a lazy, irreverent, perverted, unpunctual and quite possibly insane jounin for a teacher, because he swore there were better ones out there for him. Not that that’s particularly difficult.

Third, there were the stupid missions they were sent on. Rescuing some noblewoman’s cat? Weeding? Sasuke understood that they were the lowest rank and therefore forced to do the lowest ranking work, but why would anybody need a bunch of ninjas to help them with weeding?

Especially when one of those ninjas had absolutely no idea what a weed looked like.

Which brought Sasuke round to the main source of his constant feeling of aggravation.

Naruto. Always bloody Naruto.

Naruto with his irritating crush on Sakura, Naruto with his irritating rivalry with Sasuke, Naruto with his irritating loudness, Naruto with his irritating stupidity, Naruto with his general irritating Naruto-ness.

Sometimes, Sasuke really wished that Naruto had never become part of his life.

Okay, so his stupid good humour was kind of infectious. And it really was funny, that time when Naruto yanked up all the herbs in the garden as well as weeds. Sasuke secretly thought the woman had it coming to her for being too lazy to do the gardening herself.

And if he was totally honest . . . meeting the rest of team 7 at the bridge, seeing Naruto jump around like the overly energetic twelve-year-old he was, hearing Sakura yell at him for being more of a morning person than her, and waiting with the two of them however many hours it took for Kakashi to turn up. . . .

. . . these things made it feel like everything was right in the world.

Just for a moment.

So maybe, a little bit of aggravation was worth it.
